CLASS OF 2020

How has the coronavirus changed your senior year?

You could win a $1,000 cash scholarship. Submissions open May 4th!

For many college and high-school seniors in the graduating class of 2020, the coronavirus pandemic has dramatically changed your final year at your school. That might mean virtual graduation ceremonies, missing prom, or not getting your yearbook signed. It might also mean connecting with friends, family, and teachers in new and meaningful ways. Either way, the class of 2020 around the globe is experiencing an unprecedented event unlike any other graduating class in recent history.

So, we thought: let’s invite girls worldwide to share how the coronavirus pandemic has changed their senior year. We’ll share those messages publicly to document this historic moment in time and serve as a virtual yearbook for graduating seniors. We’ll select one senior to receive a $1,000 cash scholarship. Enter your video by 11:59 PM PST on May 24 to qualify.

Step One: Reality vs. Expectations

Think of your plans for your senior year. How has the reality differed from your vision for this milestone? What has been disappointing, exciting, or unexpected? How have you come to terms with the reality of the situation?

Step Two: Lights, Camera, Action!

Record a selfie video or upload an edited clip that answers the question: How has the coronavirus changed your senior year? Be as specific as possible. Your video can be up to 4 minutes long.

Step Three: Sign the Girls’ Voices Yearbook

When you’re finished recording, you’ll be asked to fill out our entry form and upload your video. THANK YOU–you’ve added your voice to the global Girls’ Voices Yearbook, documenting this historic moment.

More About Girls’ Voices at Home

The coronavirus pandemic affects us all. Many of us are sheltering in place, and many of us are experiencing significant challenges. Globally, we are living this shared experience, but we are all experiencing it differently.

We believe in the power of personal storytelling and connection to get through challenging times. You have a voice. You have a story to tell. And we want to hear it.

Periodically, we will release a new prompt for you to submit a photo or video related to this material. Your stories will be shared here for others to see, and you’ll be able to see what other girls are sharing across the world. You’ll have a chance to win prizes and help other girls around the world.

So: go create! We can’t wait to see what you have to share.
